Resident Evil Requiem at 91% Off — Is $6.99 Even Legal?
PL2W
2026-04-05 11:02:28
Resident Evil Requiem slashed 91% on PL2W — only $6.99. IGN 9/10, Leon returns, new protagonist Grace. Full review, price comparison, and buying guide.

Resident Evil Requiem — the survival horror game everyone's been talking about — just got slashed by 91% on PL2W. We're talking $69.99 down to $6.99. IGN gave it a 9. Series fans are calling it the best mainline entry since RE4 Remake. And now it costs less than a Chipotle bowl.

Here's the thing: Requiem isn't just another Resident Evil. It's Capcom finally returning to the main storyline after 14 years of spinoffs and remakes. That alone makes it worth paying attention to. At $6.99? It's a no-brainer.

What's Requiem Actually About?

The story goes back to where it all began — Raccoon City. Capcom calls this a "requiem for the dead," and they mean it literally. This is the game that closes the book on 30 years of series lore.

You play as two protagonists with completely different playstyles:

  • Grace Ashcroft — an FBI analyst with zero combat experience. She's terrified. She stammers when she speaks. She has no business being here. And yet she keeps going, because someone has to. Her sections are pure survival horror: hiding, sneaking, barely surviving

  • Leon S. Kennedy — yeah, that Leon. He's back, older, calmer, and somehow even more competent. His sections flip the script into satisfying third-person action. Every shot lands like it matters

The two storylines weave together, alternating between dread and catharsis. It's the smartest design decision Capcom has made in years — and somehow, it works.

What Makes It Good

  • RE Engine delivers again — Rod Mountain Sanatorium is this generation's Spencer Mansion. Every corridor oozes dread. Lighting, character models, environmental detail — all peak Resident Evil

  • Victor Gideon is a genuinely unsettling villain — twisted face, greasy goggles, steampunk Palpatine energy. Creepy in a way that lingers after you put the controller down

  • Photo Mode just dropped — the latest patch adds it, and the community is already going wild capturing the gnarliest moments

  • Half horror, half action — and both halves land — the first half will have you jumping at shadows. The second half lets you shoot those shadows in the face. Neither overstays its welcome

  • Main storyline finally continues — if you've been waiting since RE6 (2012) for the actual plot to move forward, the wait is over

The Honest Caveats

  • The ending stumbles a bit — Emily's survival feels unearned, and the dual-villain setup doesn't quite stick the landing

  • The back half leans heavier into action. If you're here purely for horror, you might feel the shift

But a 9/10 from IGN and 9.3/10 from Chinese outlets tells you the overall package is rock solid. At full price, those caveats are worth debating. At $6.99? Come on.

The PL2W Account Model — What You Need to Know

This is not a Steam key. PL2W gives you access to a Steam account that already owns the game, activated through PL2W.exe.

If you've never used this model before, here's the rundown:

  • Your main Steam account stays completely separate — PL2W.exe handles the switch. You stay online, chat with friends, play your own games as normal

  • No region locks — works from anywhere. US, Vietnam, Brazil, doesn't matter

  • Saves are local — your progress lives on your machine, period

  • Play anytime — after activation, no seller involvement. 3 AM? Go for it

  • Updates included — Photo Mode patch, bug fixes, whatever Capcom pushes, you get it

  • One account per user, no sharing — no competing with strangers for access

The catch: you need to keep PL2W.exe installed. If adding another launcher is a dealbreaker, fair enough. But we're talking about playing the best Resident Evil in years for the price of a fancy coffee.

The game dropped in February. Steam hasn't had a sale yet — and even when it does, 91% off on a Capcom title? That doesn't happen. This window won't stay open forever.

FAQ

Which Resident Evil is this? Do I need to play the others first?

This is mainline entry #9 (Resident Evil 9). The story ties directly into the 1998 Raccoon City incident, so playing RE2 Remake or RE4 will give you more context. But since Grace is a brand-new character with no history in the series, newcomers can follow the plot just fine.

Is the PL2W account safe?

PL2W uses a one-account-per-user model with no sharing. Accounts don't get disconnected, and your save data is stored locally on your PC. Progress doesn't vanish.

Do I need to stay online while playing?

Only for the initial activation through PL2W.exe. After that, you can play offline with no issues.

Does the game support my language?

Requiem supports English, Japanese, Korean, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, and several other languages. No Vietnamese subtitle option yet, unfortunately.

Are there region locks?

None. The account works globally with zero region restrictions.

What happens when Capcom releases updates?

Your PL2W account receives game updates just like a regular Steam account would. The Photo Mode patch and all subsequent fixes are already included.

Can I use my own Steam account at the same time?

Absolutely. PL2W.exe manages the account switch — your main Steam account is completely unaffected. Stay online, chat, play other games, all as normal.

Is Resident Evil Requiem worth $6.99?

IGN 9/10. Best mainline story progression in 14 years. Leon Kennedy. A villain who actually creeps you out. Horror that works and action that satisfies. And Capcom's RE Engine looking better than ever. At $69.99, it's a great game. At $6.99, it's highway robbery — and you're the one getting away with it.
