Most failed attempts miss one of two things: the invite link must come from the campaign product page, and signup alone is not enough—Discord still has to be linked.
01 Pick the game Open the campaign product, choose the edition, and check the invite target on that page. 02 Create your invite link Generate it from the campaign product page. A normal store URL will not count. 03 Invite real new friends Ask people who already game with you. They must be brand-new PL2W users and finish Discord linking. 04 Claim the reward Go back to the product page to redeem, then install and launch in the PL2W client.
When you send the link, say Discord linking is required up front. It cuts a lot of back-and-forth.

Progress still at zero? Check this order
Your friend already had a PL2W account
Existing users do not count as new helpers. A different browser will not reset account history.
